Yeah, I hated Janeway too - she was so bloody pompous! If the crew had had any sense they'd have chucked her off the ship! |
And apart from being a wee bit pompous what is wrong with the old girl?
Yes I agree with Kaz, I (obviously) love TNG, and like the other serieses. I think, like Doctor Who, that ST should take a long break and wait for a new developer. You know, just like Simon suggested, perhaps they should explore a different race, and see what they do. e.g. Romulans always seemed to be slagged off in every star trek series, why not do a series to make sure that they're not slagged off. _________________ "No matter where you are... everyone is always connected." I though Janeway was incredibly inconsistent. One minute she's trying to form an alliance with the Borg, then a few stories down the line she's telling their Queen 'I don't negotiate with Borg'. Err...yes you do, love!
And the endless moralising just got on my nerves, especially as the hierachy on the ship meant no-one could ever tell to her face that she was wrong. It was really irritaing that Seven of Nine's supposed journey to humanity just involved her learning to take orders from Janeway. What was the bloody point of that then? It just ended up illustrating that Starfleet (at least as run by people like Janeway, now an Admiral apparently) is a millitary dictatorship that enforces obedience and conformity (at least the Borg were honest).
They should have made Torres or Seven the Captain - they were interesting characters and would have been much better at it! _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

I agree. Janeway used to spend an entire episode berrating Seven of 9 about something, then go and do the exact same the following week.
Perhaps they could get her and Kirk together, last person standing gets evaporated by Lore, Torres, Seven of 9, (just add to the list as you feel) _________________ Well now, you know you can trust me!!! |

I always thought Janeway was constantly 'having her time of the month' she, as a captain, is why I turned off Voyager in the first place. Lame show, lame actors, lame story! _________________ Ramses niblick the 3rd kerplunk kerplunk whoops there goes my thribble

I agree. There were one or two good people amongst the cast (Jeri Ryan and Robert Picardo principally) but the material they were presented with was very weak.
The shame of it is, the idea behind Voyager is a great one - stick a starfleet crew out in the middle of nowhere, with just one ship and limited resources. But it was never exploited. After a few years lost, Voyager still looked shiny and new. It would have been much better if the ship was battered and scorched, and the bridge damaged and strewn with cables. They did one alternate timeline episode where the ship basically had the crap kicked out of it which was great. The whole series should have been like that. _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

Yes, I agree. Then it would have been more like "Dark Star". Perhaps it could have ended with Janeway surfing into some distance star, never to be seen again... |
