There have been a few Doctors other than the 10 'official' incarnations but which was the best?
The other catagory is for the Unbound Doctors (Michael Jayston has his own option 'cos of Trial), the Trevor Martin version and anyone else I've forgotten. _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

Nah, it's got to be Rowan Atkinson. The smugness of his Dr reminded me of Doctors 1 and 6 (ie Hartnell and Baker, C). |

Much as I love Michael Jayston's evil future Doctor (and sooner or later they are gonna have to deal with this one! Two more incarnations and it might be Valeyard time!) I gotta agree with Lib and BC about Peter Cushing. He's a wonderfuly warm, humurous Doctor and the Dalek movies played quite a big part in hooking me on Doctor Who when I was a kid.
I enjoyed Richard Hurndall's take on the first Doctor too. _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

No - I think RTD will scrap all that Valeyard nonsense! |

The idea of an evil future version of the Doctor is an interesting one and I thought Michael Jayston gave an excellent peformance.
As for the idea of the Valeyard being 'nonsense', well....
If Roger Delgado hadn't died, Barry Ketts and Rob Sloman had planned that the Master wiould appear in Pertwee's last story and be revealed as the dark side of the Doctor's id.
Before that Billy Hartnell wanted the Doctor to have an evil son that he would play himself! (though by that stage, none of the production team wanted him to play one role, let alone two! )
The idea has cropped up in a few of the spin offs - Death Comes To Time has General Tanis as the dark side of the Time Lords, the novelisation of Curse of Fenric suggests a link between Fenric and the Doctor and even Dave Martin suggested Omera was a malignant aspect of the Doctor.
So the notion of an 'evil Doctor' predates Trial and will probably crop up again somewhere or other! _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

Perhaps the evil son was Susan's father. |

Rowan Atkinson would be my choice. He was damn good as the Doctor in The Curse of Fatal Death.
Oh dear, it's my first "real" post on this board (apart from the introduction thread) , and I'm already posting in the Who forum. Shame on me! _________________ All I'll admit is that I'm alive! |

"Well now," - Sadly, "PETER CUSHING'S", version of the "DOCTOR" is often over looked by the majority of fans, because it wasn't the same at the TV version at the time and, he portrayed him as a HUMAN who'd invented the "TARDIS", etc.
But, he plays the "DOCTOR" very well as, he did all his various roles. SO, "PETER'S" my favourite alternate to the, TV "DOCTOR'S"!!! _________________ "Valentine" ( 'S Brother)
