I did`nt realise that pies in the States mean mostly fruit whereas here they can be anything - meat, sweet, cheese, and whatever is edible!

Actually, there are also chicken, meat and bean pies as well. Plenty of 'em in the supermarket I'm about to go to.
Every Thanksgiving, we have pumpkin pie.

In the states we also call everything pies
but if it is with veggies or meat
we call them pot pies.
