Somewhere with parking not too far away would be good |

I don't many of the pubs in Birmingham City Centre have car parks. Car parks in the city centre are here:-

Alternatively park at Sandwell & Dudley rail station (signposted from M5 Junction 2) and get the train from there. |

The parking thing might mean The Dragon Inn is the best bet, because there are side streets not far from there that have cheap or free parking... or at least they used to... I'll have to check that as well... |

I finally went on a research mission (hic) yesterday to check out the 3 Wetherspoons pub that are reasonably near New St Station
The Briar Rose and the Wetherspoons in Paradise Place are both a bit more like city centre drinking places than family dining type places, and the bar staff there said they can be busy all day Saturday... Probably gets a bit rowdy as the day goes on...
The Dragon Inn is a bit quieter and has a larger dining area where tables could be pushed together, or there's that large booth we sat in last time. Seems more suitable to me... Also, the bar staff there said it doesn't really get busy on a Saturday til about 4pm, when the matinee crowd from the nearby Hippodrome Theatre come in. Can't imagine a theatre crowd being too uncivilised
For car parking, there's the Arcadian Centre car park which is just behind the pub, or there's several other car parks nearby. It might even be possible to park in nearby side streets for free... I'll have a look at the parking bays in those streets in the next couple of days
New St station is undergoing a major rebuild and has changed quite a bit... the concourse is in a different place now and so are the pedestrian entrance/exits. I'll post up some directions soon. The Dragon Inn is a 5 minute walk and very simple to find from one of the station's new entrances |

OK, it looks like it's the Dragon Inn. I'll sort out a Facebook event page over the weekend. Thanks, Futsie, for the research. _________________ --
