People, this one lives up to the hype. It's so bad it's great. Like the producer told the writers forget about the laws of physics, gravity, nature, reality, common sense, etc, just write the damn movie!
We've got tornadoes, tidal waves, water sprouts, and hurricanes that pop up out of nowhere and sharks, baby, plenty of sharks. Sharks falling from the sky, swimming down the streets, crashing through windows, jumping out of manhole covers, it's great. And before I forget it's brought to you by the SyFy channel, formerly SciFi channel, formerly Science Fiction channel, the ones who brought us all those giant snake movies and is bringing us the new Blake's 7.

The picture below sums up the whole flick. The hero is taking on a Great White that glides down from the sky with a chainsaw.

The first one took place in Los Angeles, the sequel is supposed to take place in New York City. Can't wait to see those sharks flying through the windows of skyscrapers .
Note: After being shown on cable, Sharknado was later released in theaters in some countries. _________________ "Women, food, and inflicting pain -- in no particular order."

Sharknado 2: The Second One (2014)
Very seldom does a sequel outdo its predecessor. If you saw the first one and thought there’s no way they could make another film that far fetched you’d be wrong. On the SyFy channel the sequel actually had twice the amount of viewers as the first so they had to repeat it two more times. The hero from the first one returns and he has a bigger chainsaw. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it so I’ll let him sum it up:
I know you're scared. I'm scared too. They're sharks. They're scary. No one wants to get eaten. But I've been eaten. And I'm here to tell you it takes a lot more than that to bring a good man down. A lot more than that to bring a New Yorker down . Let's go show them what it means to be a hero. Let's go show them what it means to be a New Yorker! Let's go kill some sharks!

I saw the first Sharknado recently and I gotta agree with the thunda, it was fabulous!
It had that right blend of stupidity, fun, outrageous-ness and wow. It even looked like the filmmakers knew they were going for their dashes of stupidity, but held back from showing they were being 'too' knowing about it, a delicate blend. The occasional Jaws references were good too - in a 'rolling your eyes' kind of way.
I was almost totally hooked before the film even started. The dvd cover had the best tagline I'd even seen for a movie promotion. It was 'Sharknado - Enough said'.
On a related note, I saw that the SyFy people were working on another similar themed movie, this time with Lava breathing Tarantulas - Lavalantula

What made this one extra cool is that alot of these guest stars actually have New York morning shows and are playing themselves.
"We're talking about shark falling rates of two inches an hour. So those sharks are really going to pile up here."
While there have been isolated reports in the past of marine life actually being sucked into storms, a sharknado is much more powerful and alot more deadly.

Sharknado 2 "The Second One" is available on Netflix!
Do you think I should watch it without having seen the first one? |
