|
|
This morning I received my re-pressing of Series 1 of Blakes 7 from Amazon.co.uk
I have not had a great deal of time yet to check the set out thoroughly. However, Spacefall checked out fine! And the layer change was seamless! Either they have got this new technology working fine or they have moved the layer change elsewhere to a more well placed location.
There is a small round yellow sticker on the back of the box which I am guessing would be to highlight the re-pressed sets?
Chris. |

If anyone has a Yamada 5520 (cheap piece of junk I know) you might be being a bit hasty there. This model still doesn't play episode 2 of disk 1, sometimes doesn't play it at all, other times at 2:52 into the episode it skips forward 20 minutes.
My set was delivered by Amazon today and has the yellow sticker on the back too. |

My comment in the "hostile environment" thread still applies. _________________ "Blak" sheep of the B7 forum family! |

I might have been assuming the worst, the Yamada has now just played 'Space Fall' all the way through perfectly, so I guess it can't have been the 'layer change problem', just this cheap player being dodgy the first time it encountered this disk.
Joy! Well worth the wait, picture quality is great. |

Hopefully the rest of the disks will be OK too. Does your player have problems playing other disks too? |

Very much so. It never skipped forward 20 minutes before though, that's why I assumed the worst.
But now it has played 'Space Fall' all the way through perfectly twice |

Have some faith in the good old BBC
Disks 1 and 2 play perfectly on my Yamada (after the player has got used to the disks - but that's definitely the player's bizarre behaviour, not the fault of the disks) and the quality is really superb. I haven't played the other disks yet.
'Space Fall' also plays perfectly on my Samsung sd-616q pc player.
Maybe the problems really have been sorted out for all players |

That would be excellent. That's one step closer to a US release. _________________ "Blak" sheep of the B7 forum family! |

Has anybody tested the new pressing on a PS2? I can't decide whether or not to get my old set (which work perfectly on the PS2 - better than most other DVDs) changed because I'm worried that the new pressing won't work as well. |

It seems that the original problem with the DVDs was caused by Apples DVD Studio Pro software that these disks were made on. There was a glitch in the software which sometimes caused problems with layer changes. Thing was though Apple released a patch for this long before the DVDs came out. Hmm.... |
