What would be the point? Fandom would just hate and demonise his replacement the way they did Phillip Segal, JNT, Graham Williams and even Phillip Hinchcliffe.
I know that sounds glib, but all this 'RTD must go' stuff is just fandom doing what it seems to have been doing since the mid 70's. The DWAS once even claimed that Bob Holmes had destroyed the magic of Doctor Who with The Deadly Assassin!
End of the day, DW has diversified into many different media now that if you're not happy with the TV series, you can just follow it in one of its other forms. _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

He may be leaving after series 4 anyhow - but the verdict has definitely been passed resoundingly on this forum! |

But look how the verdict on Graham Williams changed. Look how the verdict on season 4 B7 changed. _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

It's not about fandom at all, that is too easy a cop-out, the very cop-out I'm sure RTD is telling himself. More than half of scripts are arse clenchingly weak, with some out right teeth grindingly awful moments, ideas & use of music.
But then you are a self confessed trash lover, so what does that say? Do I dismiss your opinion because your a cultural bin rummager in the same way you dismiss people's ideas & thoughts as just the processes of "fandom"?
RTD brought it back, & it needed bringing back!! Thank him!! However it needs fresh blood now, but I hold out no hope for that either. I wouldn't like to have to choose his replacement, there is nobody I trust. |

Too right - that last episode was one of the worst of all time - a badly written pile of steaming cack! |

Feel free to dismiss whatever you want!
Yeah I admit it - the things I like are generally hated by other people. But they work for me, fire my imagimnation, make the world seem a better place. I attatch very little relevance to any other consideration.
I'm sure that makes me scum in many people's cosideration, but hey there you go.
My cyncism about the hatred of RTD basically stems from the fact that when I first became of aware of fandom in the late 80's, most of them seem to be despise Graham Williams with an unseemly intensity even though he'd long stopped producing the show by then. In the mid 90's there was a re-assessment of his era with many coming to the conclusion that it was a golden era! Apparently the same thing happened to Hinchcliffe when the DWAS objected to season 14. _________________ Everything in life is only for now.
