Yes, you're right. I'm not one to talk anyway given that I refuse to watch the S1 episode, Cygnus Alpha, because Brian Blessed offends my sensibilities of good taste. |

I voted for Season 2. It's still got the original cast, but with more interesting clothes. Also, I like the whole Star One story arc, in fact the 2nd season concentrates best on what it might be like to lead a rebellion against a corrupt authoritarian Federation.
The major drawback of Season 2 is Travis II. In my mind, I try to forget he's supposed to be Space Commander Travis and is actually a separate character altogether. |
It's an interesting point about how to reconcile Travis I and Travis II in the whole Series, but I try to accept the fact of the two different actors. I just convince myself that he went from the cruel but more rational Travis bit by bit to the desperately revengeful Travis in Trial, because of Servalan. The events at the end of Project Avalon and Servalan telling him Maryatt was dead in Deliverance driving him more and more crazy. _________________ Last Watched: Seek, Locate and Destroy 30th Sep 2020 |

I have a feeling he kills the unwary with his hugs.
Season two is like season one, same center, same sense of purpose, only with greater life and daring and energy. Season three has the first stretch of bad episodes, or so it seemed to me on my most recent viewing. After Terry Nation started s3 off well, it fell into the purposeless, time-filling Volcano-Dawn of Gods-Kairos stretch. Dawn of the Gods is especially alarming. It's as if the people who created and understood B7 lost control of it for awhile.
I love s4. Low points in this or that episode's premise are more than made up for by the deterioration in the crew's fortunes and sense of purpose (as happens in real revolutionary movements), and the increasing expertise of the effects people in creating better and more numerous visuals. They were getting so much better so fast, at showing credible hardware, action and a fast-moving science fiction plot, pushed on by those visuals, that it's just too frustrating to think what s6, say, might have looked like. |

Funnily enough, my favourite seasons match the order I first saw them in - 3,4,1,2
I always imagined my order would reflect the number of misfiring episodes that made up the season - demonstrated by season 2 being last. But season 1 doesn't have that many misfiring episodes. There is more to it than that. Season one is, for me, not as 'vibrant', for want of a better word, as seasons 3 and 4. |
I totally agree with your order and your comments!! I am a massive fan of all the seasons, but three has the most excitement for me and four the most episodes I want to rewatch. Two the most episodes to avoid. One is awesome, just because it is. |

Sarcophagus is a strange one with all the dressing up and mysticism from writer Tanith Lee, but I still like the drama in it about Cally! _________________ Last Watched: Seek, Locate and Destroy 30th Sep 2020 |

I don't feel that Season 4 is so different but I also chose it last. Nevertheless Orbit and Stardrive and others are dramatic. There's a lot going on at times between 'Blakes 7' themselves and it's Avon that's getting more desparate. Sand reminded me of Doctor Who when they were out on the surface of the planet. Just chose Traitor to watch tonight because of that great setting - it really looks like another world! Robert Holmes put in lots of characters this time and I quite like that. _________________ Last Watched: Seek, Locate and Destroy 30th Sep 2020 |
