Avon was probably doomed since birth. With his intellect and ambition he’s not the type to fit into the Federation’s world, but was there something he could have done differently to insure a longer life or happier one?
Staying with Blake
Avon had several opportunities to leave, Blake even tells him anyone can opt out anytime. Should he have left the crew and taken his chances on his own? Granted in Breakdown he made the right decision not to leave.
Taking on the Federation
“And he can’t win. You know he can’t win.” Avon realizes from the very beginning that it’s hopeless yet he continues the struggle after Blake leaves and the Liberator is destroyed. Should he have backed off?
Killing Blake
Should he have listened to Blake instead of shooting him? Could they have gotten out alive?
Not killing Blake sooner[/I]
Perhaps Avon should have killed Blake in season 1 or 2 and taken over the Liberator. He might have had to kill Jenna also.
[b]Not killing Servalan
He had several chances to end Servalan’s reign but didn’t. Would it have made a difference?
Going to Guarda Prime
He couldn’t have seen the future but was going to a planet full of thieves, killers, mercenaries, psychopaths, and bounty hunters a wise move?
Asking Tarrant to join
Did he need a pilot that bad?
Not ditching Blake on Horizon
He had the perfect opportunity to leave with the Liberator yet decided to play the hero. No one would have blamed him if he chose self preservation.

I went with Taking on the Federation, especially after the Liberator is destroyed. The Federation had their hands full trying to rebuild their empire and the new administration didn't appear to have given a high priority to tracking him down. In fact, it seems only Commissioner Sleer even remembers him. He could have used his knowledge that Sleer and Servalan were the same person and either blackmailed her or cutting a deal with the new President. _________________ "Women, food, and inflicting pain -- in no particular order."
