When I was a kid, I loved the cover to the target novelisation of Warriors of the Deep. The Sumauri Sea Devil looked very cool and alien. As a result, I've always prefered that design to the String Vest version!!

It wouldn't entirely surprise me if the Sea Devils appeared in the new series. TheY seem to be more iconic than the Silurians and it would be interesting to see the 10th Doctor facing a similar ethical dilemma to the 5th.

I suppose The Sea Devils could be seen as more shallow than The Silurians but it has a great peformance from Delgado, good location work and an interesting monster design - more Sea Serpent than Sea Devil really. Not sure about the music. Some parts of the score work well and create a very unsettling atmosphere but at other times (the stuff on the sea port for example) its rather irritating.
