Well Game of Thrones had its final season. As you probably heard one way or another fans are disappointed. Not because it's ending but because how the final season was. It was clearly rushed and poorly written. The problem was the books that the show is based upon were never completed so the tv writers/producers had to kind of make their own ending and it was pretty bad. I'll say more later.

Game of Thrones was a fantasy cable series based off a series of novels written by George R.R. Martin. It's supposed to be a seven book series but Martin has only finished five. And here's the problem; the writers/producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss did an excellent job of adapting the source material making Game of Thrones the number one cable show in the world but at the end of season 5 they ran out of books. Those of you who watched the series most likely noticed the change. Martin studied European history extensively, particularly Great Britain. A lot of the plot was based on the War of the Roses which is why the earlier episodes felt so realistic. Unfortunately D & D (as they’re called) are not well versed in history and when the source material dried up the quality diminished. Instead of intrigue, schemes within schemes, sub-plots, engrossing dialogue we received dragons, explosions, zombies, unnecessary profanity, slow motion and tons of CGI special effects. Viewer ship increased but fan satisfaction went down. In terms of Blake 7 just imagine if season 4 was directed by Michael Bay (Transformers). We would have had huge explosions, slow motion fight scenes, giant robots, crappy one liners and rap music. Sure, ratings would go up but a few years later it would have been throughly forgotten.

Gah...
I was going to ask why they didn't just wait until more books had been written but I suppose the answer to that is money in the form of TV advertising revenue
Or they could have got George R.R. Martin in as a script/screenplay writer but I suppose he prefers to write the books...?
Season 4 of B7 by Michael Bay, good grief, that's quite a concept
I dunno tho, it might have been an improvement for "Animals"

The writers were hired by Disney to do the new Star Wars trlogy so they wanted to wrap GoT up as quick as possible. Which is a bit insulting considering GoT got them the job.Futsie wrote:Gah...![]()
